Nylon Wound was established in 2002 by Gregory Askins and Joseph Parisi. The duo incorporated in 2005 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) to promote the classical guitar in various venues for public enrichment.
The duo performs original compositions and arrangements for two guitars in addition to the standard repertory. They have performed at various festivals and in various venues around New York City and in Europe.
Nylon Wound was awarded a Council on the Arts and Humanities for Staten Island (COAHSI) 2004 Performing Arts Award, a 2005 Premier Grant, 2006 and 2007 Encore Grants, and a 2007 JPMorgan Chase capacity-building grant. The duo also performs regularly for Musicians On Call. |
