Nylon Wound was established in 2002 by Gregory Askins and Joseph Parisi. The duo incorporated in 2005 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) to promote the classical guitar in various venues for public enrichment.

The duo performs original compositions and arrangements for two guitars in addition to the standard repertory. They have performed at various festivals and in various venues around New York City and in Europe including the River To River Festival, Adelphi Dance, The Library for the Performing Arts Lincoln Center, and the Karl Koch Concert Hall, Luzern, Switzerland. Their music was used exclusively for the award winning documentary film, It Was A Tuesday. The duo has also performed for Musicians On Call.
